The 2012 Sky Games, taking place in Ribagorza Romanica, northern Spain, have opened up entries for the Open Categories of the events, which take place between June 29th – July 8th.

20th December 2011

Sharon Gayter has beaten the existing women's record for running on a treadmill for 7 days in just 5 days, 4 hours and 47 minutes! The record was formerly 649.87 km (403.81 miles) and was set held by Mimi Anderson in the UK just over a year ago.


Mimi, who set her record with a broken foot, is an Ed & Phil supported athlete.

UPDATE: Sharon Gayter broke the male world record for the longest distance run on a treadmill in 7 days at 17:09 today.

Ryan Sandes, winner of the recent Nepal Ultra, is currently taking part in the Mark Webber Tasmania Challenge, a multi-day, multi-discipline charity challenge. For further details take a look at the event website.




30th October 2011

A bit late with this one. Mimi Anderson finished the Spartathlon, a 245km non-stop race from Athens to Sparta. She finished the race 37th out of 285 starters, 1st Brit and 3rd female in a time of 32hrs 33mins 23secs.


11th September 2011

John Owen, 67, from north London won the Over 65 category in the World Masters 100km Championships held in Winschoten, Netherlands 10th September 2011.

Joanna Zakrzewski, who was part of the GB team, was second in the women's section of the World 100km Championships in Winschoten which were held at the same time as the World Masters.


15th August 2011

Sharon Gayter, the British long-distance runner, won the second edition of the 222-km La Ultra - The High ultra marathon by setting a record time of 37 hours, 34 minutes and 37 seconds on Friday.

Garret Doherty, from Dublin, won the UK Backward Running Championships in Manchester. He completed the 1 mile course in 7.06 to set a new record. Dee King from London won the women's title missing the record by only 2 seconds. Results

29/05/2011 - Pat Robbins wins GUCR 2011!
Pat Robbins (Zoom Tri Club) has once again smashed his own GUCR record, and achieved his fourth consecutive win, in a time of 25hrs 37mins. Dick reports he was "going like a train" as he crossed the line, looking like he was out for a normal Sunday morning sprint!


25th March 2011 - Lowri Morgan won the 350 miles 6633 ultra in the Arctic in a time of 174 hrs 08mins. Brief details can be found on the MdS forum. Further details will be on the 6633 website when the organisers get back to a location with internet access. Lowri's training and race performance has been filmed for S4C and is being shown on Thursday evenings. It is in Welsh, but you can get subtitles in English.

9th February 2011 - we are a few days late with this one, but it is still worth a mention Ian Sharman sets a new record for the Rocky Racoon 100 mile race with a time of 12:44:33.
Ian, original from the UK, but now living in San Jose, California, USA, has been running ultras for about five years, but has only just stepped up to the 100 mile distance. He has a full season of racing planned; details can be found on

Beyond Marathon, a website "designed to supply you with all the information you need when you find 26 miles just isn't enough any more", was launched recently. It has a great calendar of events with lots of details about the races. As events are added to the site notifications will be posted on

30th January 2011 - Ed & Phi will be at the London Ultra Expo on Saturday 19th February 2011 promoting the Kalahari Augrabies Extreme Marathon and some of the running equipment they sell.
The Expo is from 15.00hrs to 20.00hrs at the Quality Hotel, Empire Way, Wembley, London. There will be lots of information about ultra running and desert running. Ideal for anyone doing the Marathon des Sables.

24th January 2011 Dr Andrew Murray has completed his incredible run from Scotland to the Sahara covering the 2700 miles in 78 days, averaging 35 miles per day without a day off. An awesome achievement.

11th January 2011 ANDREW IS IN AFRICA!

Dr Andrew Murray, who is running from Scotland to the Sahara to raise money for the Yamaa Trust reached Africa yesterday having completed 2168 of his incredible journey in 64 days. As Andy is running in UK Gear PT 1000 shoes (a trainer designed to last 1000 miles) he should be on his third pair now. For further details of Andrew's run follow the link.

6th January 2011 It's official Guinness World Records have confirmed that Mimi Anderson is the official world record holder for “The furthest Distance covered on a treadmill in 7 days by a Female”
total distance 403.81 miles (649.87km).

2nd January 2011 - Mimi Anderson is back running again. Mimi, an Ed & Phil supported athlete, made an attempt on the world 7-day treadmill record in October despite a foot injury. This was diagnosed during the event as a broken bone. Despite this Mimi set a new World Record distance of 403.7 miles. Since then she has had to rest to allow the bone to heal, but now she is back.

19th December 2010 - LINGFIELD PARK ULTRA FEST – 2011 CANCELLED

Unfortunately the organisers have had to cancel the event planned for 2011 due to unforeseen work on the Lingfield racecouse on the event date. No suitable alternative date could be found. However, the Lingfield racecousrs management are supportive of the event and a date will be found in 2012 once the horse-racing schedule is known. It is expected to be in August.

Entries are open for the 2011 event which takes place from 6th to 16th October 2011. The itself starts on 8th October. Entry forms can be downloaded from their website or contact your local agent. Dates for 2012 event - 25th October - 4th November 2012.
